NYC, Baby! – Part One

One of my best friends is marrying the love of her life next summer and as a current New Englander, she wanted to kick off her wedding dress search at the Wedding Dress Mecca of the U.S. – Kleinfeld Bridal. As her Maid (I refuse to be a ‘Matron’ at the age of 27) of Honor, there was no way I was going to miss out on this milestone with her. Last week I hopped on a plane and met her in NYC.

Room Service Re-size
Since the Bride to Be arrived in New York before I did, I met her at our hotel, The Waldorf Astoria New York, because #YOLO.  After throwing our suitcases in our room, we decided to kick things off by getting some food and wine in our systems by order room service. Since the Waldorf is known for their Waldorf Salad (duh) and for their red velvet cupcakes, we got an order of each to split. All I have to say about the salad is that apple shreds mixed with mayo is just not my thing. Nasty. The red velvet cupcakes? Delishhh.

Upstairs

Once the sun went down, the weather was beautiful and we refused to spend the whole night holed up in our room. We decided to check out Upstairs at the Kimberly Hotel so that we could enjoy some cocktails while taking in the hustle and bustle of the City that Never Sleeps from a couple stories above ground. True to our ‘Treat Yo Self’ theme that weekend, we enjoyed a couple of glasses of Moet – We were celebrating, after all!

Lest we forget our more ‘grounded’ (AKA, what we used to do in college after the bar) roots, we went a little crazy at a local pharmacy called Duane Reade after we left Upstairs. Originally just looking for contact solution but seeing the snack selection that the store had to offer, we started stockpiling. Two bags of Goldfish, a package of Chips Ahoy! Cookies, a bag of white cheddar popcorn, Nutella/breadstick snack pack things and a bottle of Cabernet later, we headed back to the hotel.

Snacks re-size

The whole thing came to a total of $15.00. It was the cheapest ‘meal’ we had all weekend.

With our newly acquired food supply, we headed back to our hotel room to watch TV, catch up with each other, and relax before WD Day kicking off the next day.
