Massiemoon Recap: Flight Adventures & Marseille

The Firefighter and I knew that we wanted to go on a pretty amazing trip for our honeymoon, which is why we didn’t take off immediately after our wedding. Waiting until the fall allowed us to recover from all of the wedding craziness and also gave us something to look forward to in the interim.

The Firefighter had never been overseas before, so my goal while planning the itinerary was to try and see as much as possible within about a two-week time period. We decided to start off with a week-long Mediterranean cruise, embarking in Marseille and making stops in Barcelona, Naples, Florence, Rome and Cannes, and spending a couple of days in Paris and London. From start to finish it was a total of 16 days.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I’m excited because this is the first Valentine’s Day that the Firefighter and I have actually ever been in the same place for – in the past one of us has always been away for work. We are cooking  up dinner at home and relaxing. Neither of us are super big on Valentine’s Day, plus…it’s a Tuesday, and we both work tomorrow. It’s a steak dinner and a glass of wine before he passes out pretty early type of night. That’s the life for a firefighter couple sometimes!

Post30 Journey: Re-introductions

I would like to take this moment to thank the Whole30 and Wine Gods that on the two separate occasions that I’ve ingested wine I have not had a single bad reaction. Thank Goodness! About mid-way through the Whole30 my dad asked what I would do if I had a bad reaction to wine. I told him I’d power through, but I’m glad I don’t have to worry about that.

Post30 Journey: Non-Scale Victories

I am officially on Day 4 post-Whole30, but I still have a hard time believing that it’s already over. I started Whole30 doubtful if I could even make it the full 30 days. 30 days without bread? 30 days without wine or champagne? The horror!

I was convinced that this challenge would be the hardest thing I’ve  ever tried”diet” wise, but I wanted to re-evaluate my relationship with food and my body. And I have done just that. I’ve come out the other side of this feeling proud of myself and  accomplished for seeing this through. I’m overall happy with how I feel on a day-to-day basis and I have new thoughts and feelings about the food I eat.
