I’ve been awake since about 2:30 this morning. I’m not too sure what happened, I was completely sleep and then *BAM* I was wide awake. I tossed and turned, nodding off for 15-20 minute time periods here and there, but otherwise all sleeping efforts were in vain.
Apartment woes. At some point or another, I’m sure we’ve all had them. The upstairs neighbors that moved furniture around during all hours of the night. The fairly thin walls that can’t block out the sound of the dog barking two apartments down. My apartment woe? Extreme temperature differences in each room.
Hot chocolate has been one of my favorite cold weather beverages ever since I was little. It’s just the perfect chocolaty treat for a chilly winter day – or really even a hot winter day and you just want a hit of something decadent and delicious.
Like with most people who are in relationships with people who work non-traditional schedules, the Firefighter and I haven’t seen much of each other the last week or so. Last weekend in particular I did not get to see him much between his regular shifts and overtime. With the few hours we had together, I wanted to do something relaxing, but fun.
I know that I said that I wanted to bake all kinds of apple delicacies this fall, but last week I needed to come up with a dessert on relatively short notice.
Even though my carmelita’s were requested, I didn’t really want to make the exact same dessert for the same dinner group twice in a row. I wanted to make something a little bit different, while still using the leftover caramel and chocolate chips I had. When I came across this naughty brownie recipe and was inspired.
Dinner get-togethers with friends are the best. Wednesday a friend called to invite the Firefigher and I to taco night. Since I’m known for baking in our group, it was requested we bring the dessert. The one rule that I was given for the dessert direction was that it needed to be a dessert that did not contain peanut butter.
I immediately dove into my Pinterest dessert board recipes to see if anything stood out from the rest. After browsing through just about every recipe ever pinned into these boards, I realized that I have a very real problem: just about every dessert I pin has some form of peanut butter involved.
It was time to start from square one.
