Back at It

I feel like I blinked in April and I when my eyes opened again it was September. The last several months have been a whirlwind of absolute wonderful craziness and things now seem like they are falling back to normal…or at least our new ‘normal’.

BFF’s NYC Bachelorette Party: Part 1

Moving into our house wasn’t the only big project that I was planning for during March – One week after the Firefighter and I closed on our house, I hopped on a plane heading to NYC for my best friends bachelorette party. We both fell in love with the city during our visit back in August and neither of us could wait to go back to celebrate her bachelorette. Continue reading BFF’s NYC Bachelorette Party: Part 1

Massiemoon Recap: Flight Adventures & Marseille

The Firefighter and I knew that we wanted to go on a pretty amazing trip for our honeymoon, which is why we didn’t take off immediately after our wedding. Waiting until the fall allowed us to recover from all of the wedding craziness and also gave us something to look forward to in the interim.

The Firefighter had never been overseas before, so my goal while planning the itinerary was to try and see as much as possible within about a two-week time period. We decided to start off with a week-long Mediterranean cruise, embarking in Marseille and making stops in Barcelona, Naples, Florence, Rome and Cannes, and spending a couple of days in Paris and London. From start to finish it was a total of 16 days.

Whole30 Journey: Days 7-13

Day 7: I’m Lovin’ It

Breakfast: Bacon and egg cups
Lunch: Buffalo chicken salad with salsa and guacamole
Dinner: Ground beef hash with sauteed peppers, onions and potatoes
Snacks: Almonds

This morning I felt like the ‘sleepy’ phase of Whole30 smacked me upside the head. It was so hard to get out of bed, I ended up pushing my snooze button like three times – something I never do. Once I forced myself to get moving, I was able to shake it off. Honestly, while I felt great today and had a good amount of energy, nothing too exciting happened today.

One full week down, three weeks to go.

Year of Dates: September//October//November

What a whirlwind the last month has been! Most of it was revolved around my honeymoon – preparing for it, being out of the country for 16 days, and getting back in the swing of things once we returned. Now things are back to a semblance of normal in my daily routine with the Firefighter and Thanksgiving is less than a week away!

I have a ton of things to update on, but to kick off I thought I’d do a quick Year of Dates update. We’ve gotten three more months of dates under our belts and I’m sorry to say that it’s almost been a bit difficult to work them in at all! I guess that’s what life does – times get busy and it’s almost too easy to skip planning dates and special one-on-one time with your significant other. Even with the differences in both of our schedules, though, we’ve managed to work in our ‘special’ date nights.

NYC, Baby! – Part Two

The next morning was dedicated to finding Starbucks, heading to Kleinfeld’s, and officially kicking off the wedding dress search. It was so much fun to be with her as she tried on dresses, never mind the fact it was pretty awesome being in the same store/seeing the same stylists that I’ve seen so many times on TV. I won’t go into too many details on our Kleinfeld’s experience but I will say that Yes, she did find Her Dress :).

NYC, Baby! – Part One

One of my best friends is marrying the love of her life next summer and as a current New Englander, she wanted to kick off her wedding dress search at the Wedding Dress Mecca of the U.S. – Kleinfeld Bridal. As her Maid (I refuse to be a ‘Matron’ at the age of 27) of Honor, there was no way I was going to miss out on this milestone with her. Last week I hopped on a plane and met her in NYC.
