I would just like to kick off this post by asking this – Do you have any idea how difficult it is to stick to the Whole30 when you’re in New Orleans? No beignets, no wine, no hand grenade, no seafood with delicious sauces. I’m not saying that someone should send me a Whole30 award, but I’m also not saying that I’d send it back if I got one.
Day 14: Back to Sleepy Reality

The weekend definitely caught up with me this day. Even though I went to bed pretty early the night before, I was still pretty exhausted. By the time work was over and the groceries picked up from the store, I really had no motivation left to do anything at all. Even so, I forced myself to chop potatoes and fruit for this weeks fruit salad. After getting lunch together for the next day, I went to bed and was out by 8:45 PM.
The next morning was dedicated to finding Starbucks, heading to Kleinfeld’s, and officially kicking off the wedding dress search. It was so much fun to be with her as she tried on dresses, never mind the fact it was pretty awesome being in the same store/seeing the same stylists that I’ve seen so many times on TV. I won’t go into too many details on our Kleinfeld’s experience but I will say that Yes, she did find Her Dress :).
One of my best friends is marrying the love of her life next summer and as a current New Englander, she wanted to kick off her wedding dress search at the Wedding Dress Mecca of the U.S. – Kleinfeld Bridal. As her Maid (I refuse to be a ‘Matron’ at the age of 27) of Honor, there was no way I was going to miss out on this milestone with her. Last week I hopped on a plane and met her in NYC.

The Firefighter and I are not very big on Valentine’s Day. We never really go over the top gift-wise and generally opt to do something at home for dinner versus going out to a restaurant with a prix fix menu. Though truthfully we’ve never really had the option to celebrate that way – this year is the first time in our dating history that we are even in the same state on Valentine’s Day. Hooray for small victories!
Apartment woes. At some point or another, I’m sure we’ve all had them. The upstairs neighbors that moved furniture around during all hours of the night. The fairly thin walls that can’t block out the sound of the dog barking two apartments down. My apartment woe? Extreme temperature differences in each room.
Sometimes there is nothing better than a relaxing Sunday to help you gear up for the week ahead. This Sunday is also the Firefighter’s last day off, with his next tour kicking off tomorrow. We decided to spend a lazy evening in, watching DVDs and enjoying a variety of appetizers for dinner, instead of actually cooking.
